Information on launch of the European project My Peer Mentor at “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi

On 3 November 2017 at “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi was launched the European project no. 2017-1-TR01-KA205-039752, entitled “Mobile youth peer mentoring application to facilitate distance mentoring guidance for youth with disabilities”, acronym MyPeerMentor, within the Erasmus+ Programme – Strategic partnership. This event took place inthe TUIasi Rector’s Conference Room where over 100 guests attended (team of P6 partner, students,local authorities and representatives of NGOs, youth training centers, schools, etc.).

Prof. Dr. Chem. Margareta Gabriela CIOBANU, project manager from Romania,announced that the project was launched on October 18, 2017 at Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey, where the representatives of the six partners have met. Mrs. Ciobanu also presented the main objectives and action plan of the project which will run from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2019.

This project aims to achieve a special and novel form of youth peer mentoring who can serve as a good practice example for people mentee among young people with physical disabilities. Target groups are: youth mentors, youth workers, youth career counselors. Beneficiaries from services are: youth with physical disabilities (aged 16 – 29), families of people with disabilities, non-formal settlements of people with disabilities, educations institutions (secondary, tertiary and VET levels).
